New D-Link 802.11n router has seven operating modes

dap-1360-a1-image-hfrontD-Link unveiled recently its newest 802.11n router offering, which can operate in seven modes, depending on the needs of the user.

Equipped with the 802.11n standard which is 14x faster than its predecessors, the DAP-1360 Wireless N Access Point (AP) can turn into one of any of these modes: an access point that acts as a central hub; a wireless client that connects to another access point; a bridge to join two wireless workgroups together; a Bridge with Access Point to do both functions; a repeater to extend coverage to dead-spot areas; a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) client router that enables users to share Internet connection to Ethernet-based users without the need for another router; and as a WISP router to share the connection to wireless users.

Security, on the other hand, isn’t compromised by the device’s multi-function capability. The DAP-1360 features 64/126-bit WEP encryption, as well as WPA/WPA2 security, and supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) to quickly and securely set up a wireless network.

The D-Link DAP-1350 router is expected to ship to resellers and distributors on the first quarter of 2010. – John Mark V. Tuazon
