U.S. AMBASSADOR VISITS IBM PHILIPPINES. U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Harry K. Thomas, Jr. recently visited IBM at its office in Eastwood Cyberpark, Quezon City.
Ambassador Thomas and his team were hosted by IBM Philippines President and Country General Manager James Velasquez together with the IBM leadership team.
“It is an honor to visit ‘Big Blue’, a great American company with over 73 years of service and innovation to the Philippine nation,” said Ambassador Harry Thomas.
During the meeting, IBM provided an overview of its operations in the country with special focus on driving the Smarter Planet agenda and how it was being executed at a country level. IBM also extended an invitation to Ambassador Thomas to grace the upcoming IBM Smarter Cities Summit in early December, which aims to build a ‘Smarter Philippines’ one city at a time.
Ambassador Thomas was pleased to hear about IBM’s initiatives especially in driving innovation and uplifting talent development. He expressed the Embassy’s support for IBM’s growth efforts in the Philippines.
IBM reiterated its commitment to sustain and support the long standing partnership with the Embassy of the United States of America.
“We look forward to continue the conversation and engage with the US Embassy to push forward strategic initiatives that are of national and mutual interest, starting with high priority items such as healthcare, transportation, e-Governance, education and talent development,” stressed James Velasquez, President and Country General Manager, IBM Philippines.
